Our Mission

Tayoly is a language guidance matching platform. We connect multilingual speakers with people who need real-world language support -- whether navigating a new city, visiting a hospital, or settling into life in a foreign country.

Unlike traditional tutoring or language exchange apps, Tayoly matches people based on lived experience. Our guides are not professional teachers -- they are people who use the language day-to-day and understand the practical challenges of living and traveling in a different culture.

How Matching Works

Our matching algorithm considers multiple factors to find the best guide for your needs:

• Language proficiency gap -- We use the CEFR framework (A1 through C2) to find guides whose skills complement your level.
• Availability overlap -- We compare weekly schedules to find guides who are free when you are.
• Location proximity -- For in-person support, we use geospatial indexing to find nearby guides.
• Activity and responsiveness -- Active guides who respond quickly rank higher, so you get timely help.
• Reputation -- Verified ratings from past engagements using a Bayesian average ensure reliable quality scores.

All matching is deterministic and transparent. There is no hidden algorithm or pay-to-rank system -- your match results are based entirely on fit.

Safety Commitment

Safety is fundamental to Tayoly, especially for in-person engagements. Every session is supported by multiple layers of protection:

• Identity verification -- Progressive verification from email and phone to government ID with liveness detection via Stripe Identity.
• Geofence check-in -- Automatic detection when you arrive at and leave the meeting zone, with a manual "I'm Safe" fallback.
• Share My Trip -- Send a secure link to a trusted contact showing your guide's verified name, photo, and meeting details. No app required.
• Masked communications -- All messaging happens through the platform. Phone numbers and emails are never shared directly.
• Double-blind reviews -- Both parties submit feedback before either can see the other's review, preventing retaliation.
• Bifurcated reporting -- Quality reviews are separate from safety reports. Safety reports trigger immediate investigation.
